Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Maldon, Essex

£60,700 a year
Maldon · Permanent
£60,700 for a days-only engineering role. No rotating shifts. No nights. And no travelling towards London to earn it.
If you're an engineer living in Essex and spending an hour or more each way travelling towards London, you'll know how frustrating that journey can be. Particularly when you're doing it five days a week.
Or perhaps you're earning good money working a rotating shift pattern, but you'd quite happily give up the nights if you could keep the salary.
The reality is, there aren't many engineering jobs in Essex paying over £60k for working days.
Well, here's one.
We're working with a well-established, family-owned manufacturer in Maldon that's been around for almost 145 years. They make a product that's recognised around the world, and there's an opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their team.
So, what's the opportunity?
Firstly, the salary is £60,700.
You'll be working Monday to Friday, either 6:30am–2:45pm or 8:00am–4:15pm, with 12 weekend working days across the year and occasional shift cover at other local sites.
No regular night shifts. No rotating shift pattern.
The role itself is a good mix of electrical and mechanical maintenance, Siemens PLC fault-finding and engineering improvement work.
You'll still be getting involved in breakdowns and planned maintenance, but there's also the opportunity to take ownership of smaller engineering projects, investigate recurring faults and make improvements to the way the equipment operates.
So, rather than spending all your time fixing things, you'll also have the chance to improve them.
What experience will you need?
You'll need to be a qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer with experience working in an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
Good electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills are important, particularly when it comes to Siemens PLC-controlled equipment. Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement is also required.
Is it worth a conversation?
If you're currently working nights or rotating shifts and would prefer to work days without taking a big drop in salary, this is certainly worth considering.
Equally, if you're travelling towards London every day to earn decent money, why not see whether you could earn it a bit closer to home?
