NDT Technician – PCN Level 2

North West England | £28.57–£38.00 per hour | Six-Month Rolling Contract

A specialist defence engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit an NDT Technician on an initial six-month rolling contract.

The role involves carrying out non-destructive testing on welded and fabricated components within a regulated manufacturing environment. Applicants must hold current PCN Level 2 certification and be qualified to conduct visual, magnetic particle and penetrant testing.


The role

  • Carrying out visual testing, magnetic particle testing and penetrant testing
  • Inspecting welded and fabricated components against drawings, specifications and acceptance criteria
  • Producing clear and accurate inspection reports
  • Identifying, recording and reporting defects or non-conformances
  • Ensuring testing equipment remains suitable, calibrated and correctly maintained
  • Working closely with welding, fabrication, quality and production teams
  • Maintaining material and inspection traceability
  • Following approved NDT procedures and written instructions
  • Working in accordance with quality, health and safety requirements


What you’ll need

  • Current PCN Level 2 qualifications
  • Certification and practical experience in VT, MT and PT
  • Previous NDT experience within manufacturing, fabrication or engineering
  • Experience inspecting welded components and fabricated assemblies
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Good understanding of inspection reporting and traceability requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Ability to work independently within the limits of approved procedures
  • Experience within defence, aerospace, rail, nuclear or another regulated engineering environment would be beneficial.
