Social Worker – Pre-Birth & Newborn Family Help Team

About the Role

We are recruiting experienced Social Workers to join our newly formed Pre-Birth & Newborn Family Help Team.

The team works alongside expectant parents and families with newborn babies, providing timely support, building resilience and promoting positive outcomes from the earliest stages of a child’s life.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker who is passionate about early intervention, strengths-based practice and supporting families to create lasting change.

Key Responsibilities

As a Social Worker within the Pre-Birth & Newborn Family Help Team, you will:

  • Manage a varied caseload of expectant parents and families with newborn babies.

  • Undertake high-quality assessments, planning and reviews.

  • Work collaboratively with parents and carers to identify strengths, needs and solutions.

  • Support families to overcome challenges and prevent family breakdown.

  • Assess and manage risk appropriately, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of babies and families.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children, parents, carers and partner agencies.

  • Deliver purposeful interventions that achieve sustainable positive outcomes.

  • Work independently while adapting your approach to complex or unusual cases.

About You

We are looking for Social Workers who:

  • Are qualified Social Workers and registered with Social Work England.

  • Have at least 3 years’ experience working directly within Local Authority Children’s Social Care.

  • Have strong knowledge of the diverse needs of children and families.

  • Have experience applying strengths-based approaches to assessment, planning and review.

  • Can manage cases independently and demonstrate sound professional judgement.

  • Have strong skills in risk assessment and risk management.

  • Are confident working with complex family circumstances.

  • Are committed to relationship-based practice and achieving positive outcomes for families.
