Location: County Antrim - Based onsite this role is commutable from Ballymena, Antrim, Newtownabbey, Ballyclare, Ballynure, Crumlin, Carrickfergus, Lame, Lisburn, Belfast and surrounding areas.

What will you be doing as the new Ocean Freight Manager?


  • Leading and developing ocean freight import and export operations across global trade lanes, delivering high levels of customer service and operational performance.
  • Driving container volume, revenue and profitability growth in line with company objectives, identifying new markets and commercial opportunities.
  • Developing existing customer relationships while identifying and securing new business opportunities within target sectors.
  • Negotiating competitive rates and service agreements with shipping lines, carriers and overseas partners.
  • Working closely with the Customs and Compliance team to ensure efficient clearance and compliance with international trade requirements.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing the ocean freight team, while monitoring market trends, carrier developments and commercial opportunities.


What you’ll need to bring to this exciting new role:


  • Proven experience within commercial ocean freight forwarding operations, with strong knowledge of international import and export markets.
  • Demonstrable experience developing customer relationships and generating new business.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping line negotiations, carrier management and freight pricing structures.
  • Dangerous Goods certified/trained with a strong understanding of IMDG regulations, customs procedures and international trade compliance.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience, with the ability to lead by example and develop a high-performing team.
  • Experience delivering tailored supply chain solutions and identifying opportunities to improve customer operations; knowledge of multimodal freight would be advantageous.
