Office Administration Manager

Office Administration & Compliance Manager

A busy, medium-sized engineering company specialising in sheet metalwork, welding, fabrication, machining, and design and manufacture is seeking a highly organised and practical Office & Compliance Manager.

This is a hands-on operational position, not a people-management role. The management element of the position relates to managing the office administration function, processes, responsibilities, information flow and compliance activities across the business, rather than managing a team of employees.

The role sits at the centre of the company and acts as an important link between the Directors, customers, workshop, design office, suppliers and accounts. A key part of the position is ensuring that information, paperwork and administrative processes move smoothly between these areas so that everyone has what they need to carry out their work effectively.

The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys being directly involved in the day-to-day running of a business. This is not a position where responsibilities are simply delegated to others. The postholder will personally handle a broad range of administrative and coordination activities, from quotations, works orders and purchasing through to payroll, ISO documentation and health and safety administration.

The Office & Compliance Manager is responsible for maintaining an organised and effective administrative function and providing practical day-to-day support to the Directors. The postholder will coordinate the flow of information and documentation from initial enquiry and quotation through purchasing, production, delivery and invoicing, maintain accurate and accessible business records, and process the company’s weekly and monthly payrolls using Sage Payroll.

The role also leads the day-to-day maintenance and administration of the ISO 9001 quality management system and coordinates health and safety activities in partnership with a Director. The Directors retain overall responsibility for health and safety and key business decisions.

Above all, the purpose of the role is to keep the administrative side of the business joined up, organised and moving, identifying gaps, following up outstanding actions and helping ensure smooth coordination between departments.
