As an Oil Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of critical machinery through meticulous oil analysis. You will be responsible for conducting various tests, interpreting results, and providing valuable insights that support maintenance decisions and operational efficiency. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining stringent quality standards.
- Collect and prepare oil samples from various equipment according to established protocols.
- Perform a range of laboratory tests on oil samples, including viscosity, contamination, wear metal analysis, and flash point.
- Analyse test results and identify trends or anomalies that may indicate potential equipment issues.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of testing apparatus.
- Document all testing procedures, results, and observations meticulously, ensuring data integrity.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to relevant stakeholders.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices within the laboratory.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and laboratory processes.
- Proven experience in laboratory testing or a similar technical role, ideally with exposure to oil analysis.
- Strong understanding of oil sampling techniques and common testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining laboratory equipment for oil analysis.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills for reporting findings and collaborating with teams.
- Demonstrated adaptability in dynamic working environments.
- Solid computer literacy, including experience with data entry and report generation software.
- Familiarity with budget management principles related to laboratory operations.
- Basic business acumen to understand the impact of oil quality on operational costs and efficiency.
- Experience with change management processes within a technical or laboratory setting.
- Understanding of cloud computing applications for data storage and analysis.
- Ability to apply creative problem-solving approaches to unexpected testing challenges.
- A proactive approach to conflict resolution in team settings.
- Standard laboratory equipment (e.g., viscometers, spectrometers, particle counters)
- Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
