Hourly Rate: £20.96 per hour PAYE - £27.33 Umbrella

Our client is seeking a dedicated Market Officer to join their dynamic team and help make their weekly market a success!

About the Role
As a Market Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the borough's Market and various special events. Your responsibilities will include:

Daily Operations:

• Supporting Traders: Assisting with stall setup and breakdown, and building positive relationships with licence holders.
• Ensuring Compliance: Carrying out regular checks on stalls, what they are selling, on licences, and advising traders on their responsibilities. You'll also identify and report any breaches, supporting enforcement action
• Promoting Growth: Supporting income-generating activities and identifying new trading opportunities for businesses.
• Maintaining Standards: Reporting any defects, monitoring market cleanliness, and managing public highway obstructions.
• Community Engagement: Being visible and accessible to the public, dealing with inquiries and complaints, and fostering strong community relations.
• Making the Market work: Handling daily administrative tasks, processing payments and supporting debt recovery.

This role involves a varied shift pattern, including mandatory weekend working (every Saturday) and occasional public holidays.

Key Requirements
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following:

• Experience: Background in retail or public service, with a focus on customer engagement and support.
• Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain rules and regulations, resolve conflicts calmly, and foster positive relationships.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using computer applications for business purposes, including basic spreadsheets.
• Physical Capability: Able to lift and carry bulky items and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
