Location: Portsmouth (Portsdown Technology Park)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00, plus on-call rota (On-call 1 week out of 3, including night shifts)
We're recruiting for an Operations Support Analyst to join a specialist maritime operations team based in Portsmouth. This role combines data analysis, operational support and stakeholder engagement, helping to maintain maritime security awareness and support safe global trade across international regions.
The successful candidate will analyse complex data, produce intelligence-led reports, maintain situational awareness and provide operational support to a busy operations centre. The role also includes participation in an on-call rota where you will act as an initial point of contact for merchant vessels and support emergency call handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and interpret data from multiple information sources.
- Identify trends, patterns and anomalies to support operational decision-making.
- Produce reports, dashboards and visualisations to support stakeholders.
- Record and report maritime security events and incidents.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFI) processes and information dissemination.
- Monitor operational systems and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities and external communications.
- Conduct daily and weekly operational checks.
- Provide on-call support, including emergency call handling and liaison with vessels, authorities and partner agencies.
- Support continuous improvement of analytical processes and reporting.
About You
You'll be a proactive and detail-focused analyst who is comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum two years' experience in data analysis within a maritime environment.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience using data visualisation and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present data to non-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and working under pressure.
- Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Understanding of data security and information governance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
Desirable
- Level 4 Data Analyst qualification or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of AIS and maritime reporting systems.
- Experience supporting maritime domain awareness activities.
- Strong situational assessment skills within maritime operations.
