Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Salary: From £30,000 per annum + Shift Allowance (rising with experience and successful completion of probation)
Shift Pattern: 12-hour rotating shifts (4 on, 4 off – Days & Nights)

Plant Operator – Join Our Growing Team

My client are looking for a motivated and reliable Plant Operator to join their operations team in Bedford. Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient day-to-day running of our power generation plant.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in power generation, process operations or heavy industry, although full training will be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient performance.
  • Carry out routine inspections and regular plant checks.
  • Make operational adjustments, minor repairs and assist with servicing equipment to maximise plant availability.
  • Monitor plant performance using a SCADA system (full training provided).
  • Complete operational records, including daily inspections, midnight readings and water quality testing.
  • Ensure the plant operates within prescribed parameters and complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site cleanliness.
  • Work closely with the operations team to identify and report faults or improvement opportunities.

About You

We're looking for someone who is proactive, safety-conscious and keen to develop a long-term career within the energy sector.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a power generation or process plant environment, such as: Gas Power Generation, Coal Power Plants, Biomass, Anaerobic Digestion (AD), Biogas and Waste & Recycling.
  • Boiler Operator Licence or other relevant power plant qualifications.
  • Previous experience operating industrial plant or process equipment.

Previous industry experience is advantageous but not essential. We provide ongoing training and development to help you build your skills and progress your career.

Location
