Outreach Recovery Worker

Location: Southend on Sea

Salary:  £26,000 - £28,000 per annum (DOE)

About The Role

We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive Outreach Worker to engage with people who are rough sleeping or begging, including those who may be reluctant to engage with services or have multiple and complex needs.

You will provide assertive and flexible street outreach, building trusting relationships and supporting individuals to access accommodation, healthcare, mental health and substance misuse services. Working collaboratively with statutory and voluntary partners, you will help people identify their strengths, make positive and sustainable changes, and move towards safer and more settled lifestyles.

The role involves working across a range of locations and times, including some unsociable hours and in challenging weather conditions. You will maintain accurate records, contribute to multi-agency meetings and case planning, and ensure individuals receive coordinated support tailored to their needs.

About you

We are looking for someone who understands the challenges faced by people who are rough sleeping, begging or experiencing multiple and complex needs.

You will have:

• Knowledge of at least one of the following: substance misuse, alcohol misuse or mental health.
• An understanding of safeguarding, supported housing and multi-agency working.
• Experience of working positively with statutory and voluntary agencies.
• The ability to build relationships with people who may be reluctant to engage or display challenging behaviour.
• Good communication, administration, recording and reporting skills.
• A strength-based, person-centred approach, with the ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• The flexibility to work across different locations and undertake unsociable hours when required.
• A commitment to equality, inclusion and anti-discriminatory practice.
• Experience of facilitating multi-agency meetings would be desirable.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
