Part Time Accounts Assistant

Location: Cambridge (CB23)
Duration: Temporary - September 2026 to January 2027 (4-5 months)
Hours: Part-time - 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday 
Salary: £14 per hour

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Sales Ledger Assistant to join our client's finance team on a temporary, part time basis from September through to the end of January. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous sales ledger experience who enjoys working accurately in a structured, process-driven environment.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will provide essential support during a busy period, ensuring sales ledger transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain daily cashbooks across multiple currencies (GBP, EUR and USD)
• Reconcile daily receipts from e-commerce platforms against imported payment batches (PayPal, Shopify)
• Post and allocate payments using accounting software (Sage)
• Match receipts to invoices and investigate any discrepancies
• Raise credit notes and invoices where necessary to ensure accounts are balanced
• Produce and review daily aged debtor reports
• Investigate and resolve account differences promptly and accurately
• Provide support to other areas of the finance department as required
 
Requirements
• Previous experience in a sales ledger or accounts receivable role using accounting software
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Comfortable working in a repetitive, process-driven role while maintaining focus
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Able to learn new systems and processes quickly
• Reliable, dependable and able to manage workload effectively
• A positive, flexible approach with a willingness to support the wider team
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
