Part-Time Litigation Executive

Sue Ross Recruitment Ltd

About the Role

We are seeking a practical, confident, and commercially minded Part-Time Litigation Executive to join our growing business. This is a newly created role designed to provide dedicated in-house legal support and reduce the time spent on litigation and legal disputes by senior management. Working closely with the Director, you will take ownership of customer-related legal matters, helping to assess claims, resolve disputes before they escalate, and represent the business where necessary. Many of the cases involve customers pursuing claims relating to purchased goods, returns, and consumer disputes. A significant part of the role will involve reviewing cases, identifying those with legal merit, and responding appropriately through effective correspondence and negotiation. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who enjoys working independently, providing practical advice, and taking a hands-on approach to dispute resolution including attending court to represent the company.

Key Responsibilities for the Litigation Executive:

  • Assess customer disputes and legal claims relating to goods, returns, and consumer matters.
  • Draft and issue legal correspondence, including pre-action responses and settlement communications.
  • Determine which cases have merit and which can be resolved without court proceedings.
  • Manage litigation matters from initial enquiry through to resolution.
  • Represent the business in court when required.
  • Provide clear and practical legal advice to the business.
  • Review and update the company’s legal documentation, terms and conditions, and policies.
  • Identify areas of legal risk and recommend improvements to processes and procedures.
  • Provide additional support on employment law matters as required.
  • Liaise with external parties, legal representatives, and regulatory bodies when necessary.

About You - you will have:

  • A recognised legal qualification (Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Executive, or equivalent).
  • Experience providing legal advice independently.
  • Confidence in representing clients or organisations in court.
  • Strong litigation and dispute resolution experience.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • A pragmatic and commercial approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage your own caseload.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge where appropriate.

Why Join Us?

  • Newly created role with the opportunity to shape the legal function.
  • Flexible part-time hours and working pattern.
  • Varied and interesting workload covering litigation, consumer disputes, contracts, and employment law.
  • Supportive team environment within a successful company of approximately 40 employees.
