We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Bristol seeking a Pastoral Support Worker to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.
This is a highly rewarding role focused on supporting students’ behaviour, wellbeing and emotional development, helping young people overcome barriers and re-engage with education.
About the RoleAs a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
You will work closely with students who may:
- Experience social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Struggle with behaviour and emotional regulation
- Be disengaged from education or require additional support
Your focus will be on building strong relationships, promoting positive behaviour and supporting student wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Build trusting relationships with students
- De-escalate situations using calm and consistent approaches
- Support attendance, engagement and daily routines
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
- Promote positive behaviour and resilience
Some pupils may present behaviours that challenge — this role requires confidence, patience and strong interpersonal skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
