Our client, a well-established and highly regarded payroll bureau based in Blackburn, is looking to recruit a Payroll Administrator to join their busy and collaborative team. The role is office-based initially, with hybrid working available upon successful completion of probation.

Your new role
As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes for a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors. You will work closely with clients and colleagues to ensure payrolls are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with current legislation.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Managing end-to-end payroll for multiple client accounts
  • Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP
  • Processing new starters, leavers and employee changes
  • Submitting RTI reports to HMRC
  • Managing pension contributions and auto-enrolment duties
  • Resolving payroll queries from clients and employees
  • Ensuring payroll records are maintained accurately and confidentially
  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Supporting the wider team with payroll administration and client service activities


What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous end-to-end payroll experience
  • Experience working within a payroll bureau, accountancy practice, or managing multiple payrolls would be highly advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • A proactive and positive approach to work
  • A genuine desire to learn, develop, and progress within your payroll career
  • Experience using payroll software packages
