Payroll Assistant

We are looking for a Payroll Assistant to work on a permanent basis in Wigan.
Salary is c£26-28,000 per annum plus holidays, pension etc.
The successful candidate will have previous payroll experience and be comfortable working with financial information, spreadsheets and administrative processes. You will work closely with the wider finance team and provide additional payroll cover when required.
Key Responsibilities for the Payroll/Accounts Assistant:

Supporting the finance team with a range of day-to-day accounting and administrative duties.

Recording and reconciling daily financial transactions and ensuring records are maintained accurately.

Processing and checking banking information, including investigating any discrepancies.

Preparing financial information for entry into the company's accounting system.

Managing the ordering and administration of operational cash/coin requirements where necessary.

Maintaining accurate records of company assets and assisting with the processing of fixed asset additions.

Providing support with month-end activities, including financial reports, reconciliations and general finance procedures.

Assisting with the processing of weekly payroll on a scheduled basis, providing additional cover during periods of annual leave.

Responding to general finance-related queries and emails.

Liaising with colleagues across the business to resolve queries and obtain relevant information.

Providing general support to the finance department and wider business as required.
The ideal Payroll Assitant/Accounts Assistant will have:

Previous payroll experience within a finance, accounts or administration environment.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with spreadsheets, filters and lookup functions.

Some previous bookkeeping or general accounts experience would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to handling financial information.

Good organisational and administrative skills.

The ability to manage workloads effectively, prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.

A flexible approach and the ability to remain calm and accurate during busy periods.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and external contacts.

The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
