Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 subject to experience
T2M Resourcing is recruiting an experienced Payroll Manager for an ambitious and growing business based in the Newark area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional to lead an established payroll team, taking responsibility for the accurate, compliant, and efficient delivery of the payroll function. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring payroll operations run smoothly while supporting the ongoing growth of the business.
The company is open to considering both full-time and part-time candidates. The business offers hybrid working with 3 days a week required in the office.
Key responsibilities as Payroll Manager;
- Lead, manage, and develop the payroll team, ensuring high levels of performance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time in accordance with payroll schedules.
- Manage pension submissions and ensure full compliance with workplace pension and auto-enrolment requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK payroll legislation, including HMRC regulations, tax laws, pension legislation, and employment law.
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries and issues, providing expert support to employees and internal stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and maintain payroll best practices to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments
- Manage the relationship with the payroll software provider, ensuring the system remains up to date with legislative changes, software enhancements, and new releases.
- Monitor changes in payroll legislation and industry best practice, implementing necessary updates to ensure ongoing compliance and operational excellence.
- Conduct regular payroll audits and process reviews, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and strengthening internal controls.
- Coach, mentor, and support the payroll team through training and development initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
Skills/experience required to be successful as Payroll Manager:
- Minimum of 3 years' proven experience managing a payroll team, ideally within an organisation employing 1,000+ employees across multiple entities.
- Demonstrable experience managing payrolls involving hourly-paid employees, with a strong understanding of time and attendance systems.
- Professional payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP certification) is desirable.
- Proven track record of identifying, implementing, and driving continuous payroll process improvements.
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across departments to resolve payroll queries and improve processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
