Payroll Manager – Manufacturing Sector

An established and growing manufacturing business in the Black Country is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and manage its payroll function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager, Senior Payroll Officer, Payroll Supervisor, or Payroll Team Leader looking to take ownership of a busy payroll operation within a stable and expanding organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across weekly and monthly payrolls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and within strict deadlines.
  • Oversee RTI submissions, statutory payments, P45s, P60s, and year-end processes.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee payroll data.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll queries efficiently.
  • Review and validate Time & Attendance data for payroll accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation.
  • Monitor National Minimum Wage compliance across the workforce.
  • Manage pension administration and auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Produce payroll reports and management information.
  • Support payroll audits and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Identify and implement payroll process improvements.
  • Drive payroll system enhancements and automation initiatives.
  • Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and external stakeholders where required.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a Payroll Manager, Payroll Supervisor, or Senior Payroll position.
  • Strong end-to-end payroll processing experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of payroll legislation, RTI, and statutory payments.
  • Experience managing weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Strong understanding of pensions and auto-enrolment regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using payroll software, ERP systems, and Time & Attendance systems.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or FMCG experience would be advantageous.
