Payroll Specialist

Dornan Engineering Group is a leading international engineering contractor delivering high-value projects across Europe, UK & Ireland. Based in Little Island, Cork, this is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Payroll team as a Payroll Specialist, supporting the accurate and timely delivery of our in-house weekly and monthly payrolls across Ireland and the UK, as well as outsourced European payrolls.

This is a hands-on role where you will manage the end-to-end payroll process, support employees with payroll queries and work closely with HR, Finance, Auditors, Tax Authorities and external payroll partners.

Your day will include:
  • Processing accurate and timely weekly and monthly payrolls across Ireland, UK and outsourced European payrolls
  • Maintaining employee records and processing new hires, terminations and salary changes
  • Calculating and administering benefits, allowances and statutory and voluntary deductions
  • Responding to and resolving employee and internal/external payroll queries
  • Preparing payroll reports and ensuring General Ledgers are accurately updated
  • Assisting with monthly payroll account reconciliations
  • Providing manual calculations and payments when required
  • Liaising with HR, Finance, Auditors, Tax Authorities and external partners
  • Reviewing payroll processes and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Ensuring payroll processes remain compliant with relevant legislation, GDPR and regulatory requirements
  • Keeping up to date with payroll-related regulatory changes
  • Supporting month-end, year-end and other ad-hoc payroll activities
About You
  • 2+ years' experience in a similar payroll role
  • IPASS/CIPP qualification desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a busy, collaborative team
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance and confidentiality
