Planner

Red Sky Personnel Ltd

Planner: Civil Engineering / Infrastructurey

West Midlands

I’m recruiting for a Planner to join a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor, working across a strong pipeline of infrastructure projects.

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to be involved across the full project lifecycle rather than simply updating programmes. You’ll work closely with estimating, pre-construction and delivery teams, getting involved from tender stage through to live project delivery.

The role will give you exposure to a range of projects, with the opportunity to influence construction methodology, sequencing and programme strategy, as well as working directly with operational and commercial teams.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Developing and maintaining robust, detailed project programmes

  • Working with delivery teams on construction sequencing, methodology and programme performance

  • Supporting tenders, pre-construction and live project delivery

  • Monitoring critical paths, key milestones and potential programme risks

  • Identifying delays and working collaboratively with project teams on mitigation

  • Supporting change and demonstrating the programme impact

  • Working closely with Operations and Commercial around project risk and programme performance

  • Leading collaborative planning and helping to drive a strong planning culture across project teams

What I’m looking for

The key thing for this role is having a genuine understanding of how a construction project comes together. You’ll ideally have gained this through previous site-level experience with a UK contractor before moving into planning.

You’ll also need:

  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing

  • Good knowledge of NEC contracts and other relevant forms of contract

  • Experience leading collaborative planning processes

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 / Primavera Cloud and competency in MS Project

  • A Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • The ability to take complex programme information and communicate it clearly to different audiences

  • A collaborative approach, working with and supporting project teams to improve planning effectiveness across the business

Why consider it?

Alongside a salary of £50,000 to £60,000, the package includes a company car/car allowance, pension, private medical, life assurance and 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.

You’ll be joining an established Tier 1 infrastructure contractor with long-term secured work and the opportunity to develop your career across major civil engineering projects. There is a strong focus on developing people internally, with ongoing professional development, leadership training and clear opportunities to progress within the business.
