I'm currently working with a highly regarded specialist strategic land business that is looking to strengthen its planning team with an experienced Senior Planner - Associate Director-level professional (Planning Manager).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a genuine background in strategic land who wants to take their career into a business where planning is central to the success of the organisation.
The role would suit candidates coming from either a planning consultancy or client-side/development background, provided you have strong experience of promoting strategic land through the planning system.
About the Role
You'll play a key role in identifying, promoting and progressing strategic land opportunities, working closely with landowners, local authorities, consultants and other professional teams to maximise the development potential of sites.
Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities could include:
·Leading planning strategies for strategic land promotion projects.
·Managing sites through the planning and development process, from early promotion through to planning consent.
·Working with local planning authorities and other stakeholders to develop effective planning strategies.
·Managing external planning consultants and multidisciplinary consultant teams.
·Providing planning advice on land opportunities and development prospects.
·Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and representations.
·Inputting into local plan and strategic planning processes.
·Building strong relationships with landowners and key stakeholders.
·Taking ownership of projects and providing commercially focused planning advice.
At the more senior levels, there will also be the opportunity to take a wider leadership role within the planning function, helping shape planning strategy, mentor colleagues and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
About You
I'm keen to speak with planners who have proven strategic land experience, whether that has been gained within a planning consultancy, house builder, developer or land promotion business.
You'll ideally have:
·Significant experience in UK planning and development.
·A strong track record in strategic land promotion.
·Experience working on complex residential or mixed-use development opportunities.
·Good knowledge of the planning system, including local plan processes and planning applications.
·Experience managing consultants, stakeholders and planning strategies.
·MRTPI or working towards chartership would be advantageous, particularly for more senior appointments.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is a chance to join an established strategic land business with a strong specialist planning team and an impressive portfolio of land promotion projects.
The business has a strong focus on professional development and long-term career progression, with opportunities to develop your responsibilities in line with your experience and ambitions.
The company operates a hybrid working model from its Rugby base, offering flexibility alongside the opportunity to work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team.
The salary range is broad to reflect the different levels being considered:
£45,000 - £75,000 + package, depending on experience and seniority.
