The Role

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and pro-active Plant Design/Project Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment who enjoys and is competent to work alone and as part of a team, to manage engineering projects from concept through to completion.

Main Purpose of the Role:

The key functions of the Plant design/Project Engineer are to facilitate the design and development of milling machinery and plant layouts for clients in the flour and rice milling sectors. Collaborating closely with sales, technical, and project teams to deliver customised milling solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales and technical teams to understand customer needs and translate them into the required project specifications;
  • Specify and select appropriate milling machinery and components for integration into both turnkey systems and single machine installations;
  • Plant layout and detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation;
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and compliance with specifications;
  • Attend customer sites (both UK and overseas) to conduct site surveys and assess client requirements;
  • To provide support during installation and commissioning phases;
  • Project and cost control (via use of CPDS documentation).
  • Identify opportunities for product and process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industrial and food safety standards and health & safety regulations;
  • Maintain accurate project documentation;
  • Assist in preparing proposals and technical presentations;

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Develop comprehensive equipment and plant designs using AutoCAD 2D & 3D;
  • Background in food industry or materials handling;
  • Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering discipline;
  • Experience in Plant Design, Project Engineering or a similar Engineering role;
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication and project design abilities;
  • Problem solving mindset with strong analytical skills;
  • Knowledge of Engineering standards, Health and Safety requirements and quality management systems;
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, CAD and project management tools;
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel when required;
