  • Monday to Thursday: 07:30 โ€“ 16:30
  • Friday: 07:30 โ€“ 12:30

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Play Area Maintenance / Groundworker to join a well-established Local Authority service based in DE7 4RA.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical background in grounds maintenance, construction, play area installation or highways work to make a real difference within local communities. You'll play a key role in ensuring playgrounds, outdoor spaces and public facilities remain safe, attractive and fit for use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair and maintain children's play areas and play equipment.
  • Install new play equipment and associated safety surfacing.
  • Carry out repairs to existing playground structures and assets.
  • Install and maintain street furniture including benches, bins, bollards and signage.
  • Undertake general groundworks and construction-related activities.
  • Mix, lay and finish concrete and tarmac to a high standard.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Carry out routine safety inspections and identify defects.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team delivering services to the local community.

Essential Requirements

  • Maintenance Experience
  • Groundworks or construction experience.
  • Experience installing street furniture.
  • Experience mixing, laying and finishing concrete and tarmac.
  • Street Works qualification (NRSWA) or equivalent
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Reliable, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team.
