The Opportunity
Westray Recruitment Group is recruiting 15 to 20 reliable and safety-conscious drivers to support the arrival of large car vessels carrying brand-new vehicles.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a busy port environment, driving brand-new cars from the vessel and parking them safely in designated bays.
Please be aware that this is not consistent, full-time employment. On average, successful candidates can expect approximately two 12-hour shifts every 10 days. Work is dependent on vessel arrivals, and shift dates, times and availability may change at short notice.
The first vessel is currently expected to arrive on 10th August 2026; however, vessel schedules are subject to change.
The Role
As a Port Vehicle Movement Driver, you will board the vessel and carefully drive brand-new vehicles to allocated parking areas within the port.
As all vehicles are new, the highest standards of care, cleanliness and professionalism must be maintained. Full PPE must be worn, and all procedures must be followed to protect both employees and the vehicles.
Your duties will include:
- Boarding the car vessel safely and following all port and vessel procedures
- Driving brand-new vehicles from the vessel to designated parking bays
- Manoeuvring and parking vehicles carefully, accurately and efficiently
- Following instructions from supervisors, banksmen and the vessel operations team
- Maintaining exceptional cleanliness and hygiene when entering and operating vehicles
- Wearing all required PPE correctly throughout each shift
- Conducting basic visual checks and reporting any damage or concerns immediately
- Handling vehicle keys in line with agreed procedures
- Potentially driving a minibus carrying up to eight passengers between operational areas
- Supporting the safe and efficient unloading of each vessel
- Following all health and safety, traffic-management and port-security requirements
Driving Licence Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have held their licence for a minimum of one year
- Have no more than six penalty points
- Be comfortable potentially driving a minibus carrying up to eight passengers

We are looking for candidates who:
- Are dependable and flexible
- Are comfortable with temporary, intermittent work rather than guaranteed full-time hours
- Have a careful and responsible approach to driving
- Can follow detailed instructions and strict procedures
- Take pride in maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Are comfortable working aboard a vessel and within a busy port environment
- Can complete 12-hour shifts
- Can work safely and efficiently as part of a large operational team
- Understand that working dates may change in line with vessel schedules
Pre-employment Requirements
Successful candidates must:
- Complete and pass a drug and alcohol test before starting
- Provide their full UK driving licence for verification
- Attend the required site induction
- Meet all port-security and right-to-work requirements
- Wear the full PPE provided while undertaking their duties
