Choose from one of the following fixed 10-hour shifts:

4am - 2pm

OR

Participation in a shared weekend and Bank Holiday on-call rota is required.

Our client is expanding and seeking a skilled Transport Operator to join their busy operations team at London Gateway. The Opportunity

As a Transport Operator, you'll be at the heart of the operation, ensuring the smooth planning and coordination of container movements across the UK. Working closely with drivers, customers, and port operators, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional service while maintaining compliance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and coordinating daily container transport operations
  • Allocating work and managing driver schedules
  • Liaising with drivers, customers, ports, and internal teams
  • Monitoring vehicle movements and resolving operational issues
  • Managing bookings via the London Gateway Vehicle Booking System (VBS)
  • Maintaining accurate transport records using Fargo TOPS
  • Ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time
  • Maintaining compliance with transport legislation and company procedures

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience within the UK container haulage industry
  • Hands-on experience using London Gateway VBS
  • Experience with a Transport Management System (TMS)
  • Knowledge of Fargo TOPS or a similar system
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Calm and confident decision-making under pressure
  • Good IT skills, including Outlook and Excel

Desirable Experience

  • Transport Manager CPC
  • Experience within transport or container logistics
  • Experience in a high-volume transport operation
  • Knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph regulations, and transport compliance
  • Experience working with container ports such as Felixstowe and Southampton
