Portfolio Manager - Accountant
eps.group services
A client-management role for a qualified accountant who wants to be the face of the firm to their clients — building relationships, giving great advice, and helping the practice grow.
We're working with a well-regarded, ambitious accountancy practice that's investing in its client experience. This isn't a heads-down compliance seat — the base accounts and compliance work is handled by a dedicated team across the UK, which frees you to do what you do best: look after clients, build trust, and help the partner grow the firm.
You'll be the go-to person for a portfolio of clients — the one they call, the one who gives them a straight answer and the numbers behind it, and the one who spots how to add value. Alongside that, you'll help lead and upskill the team, making sure every client gets the best-in-class service the firm is known for. It's a genuine blend of relationship management, advisory and leadership, with a clear line of sight to the partners and the firm's growth plans.
The role is based centrally around Stokenchurch, with the firm's offices within about half an hour in either direction — so it will suit someone happy to work across both sites.
What you'll be doing
- Owning a portfolio of clients as their lead point of contact and trusted adviser
- Building strong, long-term relationships and being genuinely responsive — giving clients quick, clear answers and the figures to back them up
- Supporting the partner in growing the firm and shaping how clients are looked after
- Making sure every client receives a best-in-class, proactive service
- Reviewing the work delivered by the wider team and being the quality check clients rely on
- Managing, mentoring and upskilling team members to raise the standard across the board
- Spotting advisory and planning opportunities and adding value beyond the compliance
What you'll bring
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or strong QBE) with solid UK practice experience
- A real people-person — confident, warm and credible in front of business owners
- Experience managing client relationships and a portfolio as the lead contact
- Strong technical grounding across accounts and tax, and the ability to interpret and explain the numbers
- Experience reviewing work and developing more junior colleagues
- Commercially minded, proactive, and motivated by helping a firm grow
- Based within reach of Stokenchurch and happy to travel between the two offices (roughly half an hour either side)
What's on offer
£45,000 – £60,000 depending on experience, plus 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, a company pension and a good benefits scheme — and the chance to shape client relationships and help grow a firm that genuinely values its people.
