Location: Birmingham
Salary: £14.07 + Shift Allowance 

Hours: 38 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rotating 2-Shift System (Weekly Rotation)

Press Setter Operator – Permanent Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Press Setter Operator to join a leading manufacturing business. This is a permanent position offering full training, career development, and the chance to work within a modern production environment where quality, safety, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating power presses and associated production machinery, ensuring components are produced to the highest quality standards while maintaining production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate power presses ranging from 20 to 250 tonnes.

  • Produce high-quality components to engineering drawings and specified tolerances.

  • Carry out tool changes, adjustments, and machine set-ups using the appropriate tooling, jigs, and fixtures.

  • Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using measuring equipment.

  • Ensure all products are manufactured to specification and meet quality standards.

  • Work closely with Production Coordinators and Engineers to maximise machine efficiency and minimise downtime.

  • Adhere to production schedules and achieve daily production targets.

  • Maintain accurate production and traceability documentation.

  • Identify and report machine faults or production issues promptly.

  • Support and assist with training colleagues where required.

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and follow 5S principles.

  • Promote and work in accordance with all Health & Safety procedures.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience operating and setting power presses within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working with presses from 20T to 250T.

  • The ability to read engineering drawings and manufacture components to tight tolerances.

  • Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges.

  • Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out tooling changes and machine adjustments.

  • Basic computer literacy.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English are desirable.

Shift Pattern: Rotating 2-Shift System (Weekly Rotation)

AM Shift

  • Monday – Thursday: 6:00am – 2:00pm

  • Friday: 6:00am – 12:00pm

PM Shift

  • Monday – Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm

  • Friday: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
