Inspection, Repair & Pressure Test Technician

Function: Inspection, Repair & Pressure Testing

Overall Purpose of the Job

To carry out a range of operational activities, including pressure testing, inspection, repair and associated tasks, in compliance with specified procedures and work instructions.

The employee may be required to handle chemicals and must do so strictly in accordance with current company Control and Health & Safety guidelines, including COSHH assessments. All work must be carried out in accordance with current company procedures and risk assessments, with safety maintained at all times.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Gas Testing
  • Assisting with the coordination and control of the daily operations of the Service Shop and associated inspection, repair and pressure testing activities, while maintaining a safe, secure and efficient working environment.
  • Supporting continual improvement initiatives to optimise efficiency, quality and performance.
  • Providing the Sales Department with information required to quote for pressure testing, inspection and repair work, including the identification and ordering of spare parts.
  • Working closely with the Engineering Department when required.
  • Carrying out Service Shop duties, including:
    • Dismantling, inspection and rebuilding of drilling valves.
    • Assembly, disassembly and pressure testing of manufactured equipment.
    • Pressure testing of various types of drilling and oilfield equipment.
    • Stripping, repair, assembly and testing of various types of oilfield equipment.
  • Operating torque machines for various tasks.
  • Receiving and identifying valves and equipment.
  • Cleaning, measuring and inspecting components.
  • Completing valve inspection reports, associated paperwork and repair quotations.
  • Creating test reports and pressure test charts as required.
  • Assisting external maintenance personnel with planned maintenance activities.
  • Carrying out internal maintenance activities as required.
  • Ensuring production requirements and deadlines are achieved.
  • Safely operating overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised working area.
  • Working in accordance with Company Quality Management System procedures and processes.
  • Applying appropriate Health & Safety practices in accordance with Company requirements.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Company at all times, both internally and externally.

Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare.

Report any work-related injuries, illnesses, diseases or dangerous occurrences that arise during the course of their work.

Experience & Education

Essential

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in pressure testing using various testing media.
  • City & Guilds qualification in Pressure Testing Technician, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of drill string, well control equipment and oilfield equipment.

Training

  • Specific in-house training will be provided as required.
