Salary: £12.83 per hour (with a 30% uplift when working between 8pm and 8am on weekdays and for Saturday shifts, 60% uplift on Sundays and Bank Holidays)

The Person:
We are looking for a highly organised, flexible individual with experience together with the following skills:
- Call handling or phone-based customer service experience.
- An excellent telephone manner, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good geographical knowledge of the Powys area is desirable.
- Ability to prioritise, work on your own initiative, and as part of a team.
- Discretion and integrity with the ability to handle confidential information.
- Experience of working across multiple computer platforms and using data systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Although not essential, as full training will be provided, experience gained in a healthcare setting, call centre or hospitality environment would be advantageous.
The Role – Primary Care Centre Assistant / Driver
You will be primarily based at Newtown Hospital, where you will provide a warm and welcoming first point of contact for patients attending the service. Alongside your reception and patient-facing duties, you will also drive GPs safely to and from home visits across the surrounding area, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care in the community. Your duties will include:
- Transporting the Duty GP / Clinicians to all home visits.
- Checking diagnostic equipment and clinical bags used by GPs is present and in working order.
- Ensuring surgeries are set up and fully equipped in readiness for patients
- Welcoming and greeting patients attending the Primary Care Centre, acting as a first point of contact.
- Supporting with administrative tasks, such as handling telephone calls and arranging conference calls, faxing prescriptions and admission letters.
- Ensuring the Centre and vehicles are kept clean and tidy.
Our Requirements – Primary Care Centre Assistant / Driver
- Have possessed a full UK driving license for a minimum of 3 years.
- Be over 25 years of age for vehicle insurance purposes.
- Familiar with the use of Sat navigation, with good knowledge of local geography .
- Confident using a variety of IT programmes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Flexible, reliable, self-motivated, and resourceful.
What We Offer:
- Hours of Work: working an average of 13.81 hours per week on a regular shift pattern with additional hours often available. These shifts will primarily be night shifts (eg approx. between 12am and 8am). Flexibility is available with hours worked, and shift patterns are provided with a minimum of 6 weeks’ notice in advance, although some flexibility will be required to meet the demands of the role.
- Competitive salary and benefits package: The hourly rate of pay is £12.83 per hours, although you will work primarily night shifts which attracts enhancements (30% uplift (equates to £16.68 per hour) when working between 8pm and 6am on weekdays and Saturday’s shifts, as well as a 60% uplift (equating to £20.53) on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
