Principal Cost Estimator

Contract: 12 Months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £60 per hour PAYE

Morson are recruiting on behalf of BAE Systems, a leading Aerospace and Defence organisation, for an experienced Principal Cost Estimator to join their Commercial Estimating team on a 12-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimating professional to support major bids, projects and commercial activities within a highly regulated Aerospace and Defence environment.

• Lead estimating support across bids, campaigns and projects, including final costing and pricing.

• Create and compile complex costings and pricing for bids.

• Develop accurate material and labour estimates using historic data and stakeholder input.

• Review and challenge functional and supply chain cost estimates.

• Develop and maintain cost models in line with business requirements.

• Support pricing of bids and project changes, including risk, uncertainty and opportunities.

• Produce and maintain a clear Basis of Estimate, including assumptions, dependencies and exclusions.

• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide estimating expertise at reviews and meetings.

• Extensive experience within a professional estimating or commercial environment.

• Strong understanding of estimating principles, policies and processes.

• Experience producing complex cost and pricing estimates.

• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities.

• Aerospace and Defence experience would be highly advantageous.

• Strong IT and presentation skills.

• Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
