The Principal Electrical Engineer will lead the selection, evaluation and integration of electrical components across advanced electrification systems. Working closely with systems, electronics and mechanical engineering teams, you will provide technical leadership on electrical architectures, component selection and system integration activities, ensuring robust and reliable solutions are delivered throughout the product lifecycle.
 
The Principal Electrical Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Defining requirements for electrical components and interfaces across high- and low-voltage systems.
  • Supporting the development of electrical architectures, protection strategies and communication interfaces.
  • Leading the selection, evaluation and approval of electrical components including connectors, contactors, relays, fuses and sensors.
  • Assessing component suitability against electrical, thermal, environmental and EMC requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining component specifications and interface definitions.
  • Leading component evaluation, verification and supplier engagement activities.
  • Supporting procurement, prototype builds, commissioning and system fault diagnosis.
 
The Principal Electrical Engineer will have:
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical component selection, evaluation and integration within a high-reliability engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems, including batteries, HVIL systems, PDUs, connectors and power distribution hardware.
  • Experience with charging systems, vehicle interfaces and communication networks such as CAN, LIN and Ethernet.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, EMC, thermal behaviour, insulation systems and component derating.
  • Experience evaluating component specifications and integrating them into electrical system designs.
  • Experience working with suppliers, component qualification activities and manufacturing considerations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
