Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Salary: Up to £75,000 DOE
We are working with an established technology business developing safety-critical embedded software looking for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join their Bristol-based engineering team.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on developing safety-critical embedded software, with particular emphasis on Embedded C and RTOS technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical aspects of embedded software projects.
- Design, develop and test low-level embedded software.
- Work extensively with C, assembler and RTOS technologies.
- Contribute to software architecture and technical design.
- Debug hardware/software integration issues.
- Lead code reviews and promote software best practices.
- Support safety-critical validation, certification and compliance.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
Key Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in Embedded Software Engineering.
- Excellent Embedded C skills.
- Strong RTOS experience – ideally FreeRTOS or SAFE RTOS.
- Low-level embedded experience, ideally ARM Cortex.
- Experience within a safety-critical environments
- Experience with embedded networking such as TCP/IP and UDP.
- Experience with software architecture, requirements and configuration management.
- Degree or equivalent in an engineering/science/technical discipline.
