An expanding multi-disciplinary consultancy is entering a key phase of growth and is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to establish and lead its structural engineering offering. With a well-established Civil Engineering team already delivering a healthy and growing workload, this position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a new function while helping shape its long-term success.
Working alongside the Regional Director, the Principal Structural Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing the structural capability, influencing strategy, supporting project delivery and, over time, building a dedicated structural team.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce structural designs, calculations and technical solutions across a varied project portfolio
- Carry out structural inspections, assessments and site surveys
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and internal engineering teams
- Contribute to concept design development and value engineering initiatives
- Review and check drawings, calculations and technical outputs
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
- Support project delivery, planning and programme management activities
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, design codes and quality standards
- Help drive the growth and future direction of the structural engineering service

You will ideally have:
- Experience designing steel, reinforced concrete and masonry structures
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and NHBC requirements
- Experience undertaking structural inspections and surveys
- Working knowledge of Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Experience using structural analysis and finite element modelling software
- Degree or HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
- Chartership achieved or currently working towards ICE or IStructE accreditation
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
