About the Client

We’re supporting a leading organisation in the recruitment of a Privacy Specialist to join its Legal and Privacy function on a remote basis.

This is a great opportunity for a privacy or data protection professional who enjoys working in a practical, collaborative environment and wants to make a tangible difference to how privacy risks are managed across a business.

The Role:

As Privacy Specialist, you’ll provide practical privacy and data protection support across UK operations, helping teams manage day-to-day privacy risks, strengthen processes and embed clear, consistent ways of working.

Working closely with the wider Privacy Team, you’ll support a broad range of activity including privacy incidents, data subject rights requests, complaints, DPIAs, records of processing, supplier queries, assurance activity, training and continuous improvement.

You’ll also play an important role in turning lessons learned into practical improvements, helping the organisation develop a proactive, prevention-focused approach to privacy.

How you’ll spend your day

• Provide practical guidance on routine privacy and data protection matters, including incidents, data subject rights requests, complaints, DPIAs, records of processing, supplier queries and information sharing.
• Translate privacy policies, procedures and legal requirements into clear and proportionate actions for operational teams.
• Maintain accurate records of advice, decisions, actions and supporting evidence.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and improve privacy processes, templates, guidance, trackers and reporting.
• Support reviews of incident themes, root causes, corrective actions and lessons learned.
• Contribute to management information, assurance reporting, evidence packs and control checks.
• Build strong relationships with operational teams and corporate functions, helping colleagues understand and apply privacy requirements.
• Coordinate stakeholder input, follow up actions and clarify ownership, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Prepare clear updates, briefings and responses for internal governance and stakeholders.
• Support the Privacy Team with day-to-day priorities, including triage, action tracking, procedure updates, awareness activity and evidence management.

What you’ll bring to this role

We’re looking for someone with good practical knowledge of UK data protection law and core privacy principles, combined with the ability to apply that knowledge in a real business environment.

You’ll ideally have experience in privacy, data protection, compliance, risk, assurance, legal, information governance or a related operational environment.

You should have experience supporting areas such as:

• Privacy or data protection incidents
• Data subject rights requests
• Complaints
• DPIAs
• Records of processing activity
• Supplier/privacy queries
• Training and awareness
• Assurance or evidence activity

You’ll also be someone who is organised and detail-focused, comfortable maintaining accurate records, action logs and evidence trails, while being able to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Just as importantly, you’ll have excellent stakeholder skills and be confident explaining privacy requirements in clear, straightforward language. A pragmatic and collaborative approach is essential, with the ability to identify process gaps, suggest improvements and know when an issue needs to be escalated.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• A recognised data protection qualification such as ISEB, CIPP/E, CIPM or equivalent.
• Experience of process improvement, control checks, audit, assurance or lessons-learned activity.
• Experience working across multiple operational, corporate or regulated environments.
• Awareness of information security, public-sector contracts, client assurance or regulated service delivery.
