Role Overview: Product Manager:
This position would suit a technical Sales Manager / Engineer who has moved into technical Product Management and still enjoys opening new doors, generating customer leads and driving customer engagement.
As the technical Product Manager you will lead global commercial and strategic sales activities for their range of scientific products used in the food & beverage markets. The role is responsible for product management, market and competitive intelligence and sales / business development to drive growth, profitability and innovation.
You will act as the internal voice of the customer, collaborating with Sales, R&D, Operations and regional teams to translate market insights into product strategies and execution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Product Manager:
- Drive and proactively develop new sales opportunities and work with sales teams to identify and assess new markets, applications and customer segments using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Take an active involvement in trade shows and customer meetings to steer technical discussions, create new business opportunities and ensure commercially viable outcomes.
- Gather and communicate customer insights and needs, working with clients across the EU and USA both onsite and online etc
- Set and maintain global pricing guidance, considering market value, competition, cost and margin.
- Manage the full product lifecycle from concept and market validation through launch, growth and end-of-life.
- Lead market sizing, segmentation, competitive analysis and business case development.
- Collaborate closely with R&D teams to define requirements and ensure timely product delivery.
- Deliver annual operating plan (AOP) objectives: revenue, margin and EBIT targets.
Qualifications and Requirements: Product Manager
- Solid industrial engineering experience in technical sales and product management within an electromechanical product manufacturing environment (food/beverage packaging, science, pharmaceutical, lighting, purification, medical devices, FMCG, printing etc.)
- Proven technical sales abilities to identify and win new client opportunities coupled with good product management process and structure.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in physics, chemistry, mechanical/electrical engineering or related field however industry experience with apprenticeship or HND also acceptable.
- Good technical knowledge; comfortable and interested in working with electromechanical or mechanical systems, including electronics, HMI-controlled products and three-phase power supplies.
- Strong communication skills to discuss and guide technical product needs with clients and translate these into commercially viable products alongside R&D engineers.
- High work ethic, adaptability and commitment to organisational goals in a competitive, dynamic market.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration and project management skills.
- Confident in working with senior management to define and champion commercial and strategic projects - leadership skills would be welcome.
