Kidderminster | Hybrid Working | Competitive Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Engineering is about making things work. Safety Engineering is about making sure they work safely.

We're supporting a world-leading engineering organisation developing advanced propulsion technology for defence applications, and they're looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.

This is an opportunity to influence product safety from concept through to in-service support, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure complex products meet the highest standards of safety, compliance and technical integrity.

Whether you're already an experienced Product Safety Engineer or looking to take the next step into a Lead role, this position offers genuine technical variety, career progression and exposure to some of the UK's most advanced engineering programmes.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading product safety activities across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and development through to production and in-service support.
  • Developing Product Safety Management Plans and delivering robust safety programmes.
  • Facilitating hazard identification and risk analysis activities using recognised techniques such as FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Producing high-quality Safety Case reports that demonstrate products are safe for their intended use.
  • Working closely with Design, Manufacturing, Systems and Project teams to ensure safety is embedded throughout the engineering process.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on safety requirements, risk reduction strategies and regulatory compliance.
  • Acting as the technical focal point for product safety within multidisciplinary engineering programmes.

What we're looking for

You'll have experience within Product Safety or System Safety in a regulated engineering environment and enjoy solving complex technical challenges.

You'll likely have experience in:

  • Aerospace
  • Defence
  • Space
  • Automotive
  • Nuclear
  • Rail
  • Other safety-critical engineering industries

You'll also bring:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience producing Safety Cases and Safety Management Plans.
  • Knowledge of hazard identification techniques including FMEA, FTA or similar methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working within regulated engineering environments.

Knowledge of defence safety standards such as Def Stan 00-56 would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Why apply?

This is an opportunity to work on highly complex engineering programmes where safety is fundamental to mission success.

You'll join a collaborative engineering team, work across the complete product lifecycle and have the opportunity to develop into a Lead Product Safety Engineer as your career progresses.

If you're passionate about engineering, safety and solving technically challenging problems, we'd love to hear from you.
