We're recruiting for a growing specialist manufacturing business that has built its reputation on solving complex customer challenges, delivering bespoke solutions and consistently exceeding expectations.
Working across sectors including infrastructure, nuclear, engineering, aerospace and industrial manufacturing, the business supports projects for organisations, alongside major construction and infrastructure projects.
As the company continues to expand, they're looking for an experienced Production Manager who can bring energy, accountability and strong leadership to their production operation.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being at the heart of the action. You'll work closely with Team Leaders and production staff, helping to improve productivity, increase efficiency and create a positive, high-performing culture where people feel motivated to succeed.
You'll be trusted to take ownership, identify opportunities for improvement and implement change that delivers measurable results.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll be responsible for leading day-to-day production activities, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on leadership position where visibility matters. You'll spend time on the shop floor supporting your teams, removing obstacles, solving problems and ensuring production targets are achieved.
Alongside managing production performance, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and, on occasion, accompany operational teams to customer sites to gain a better understanding of projects and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily production operations across the manufacturing facility
- Manage production schedules to ensure customer orders are delivered On Time In Full (OTIF)
- Coach, develop and support Team Leaders and production staff
- Monitor productivity, machine utilisation and downtime
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
- Identify bottlenecks and implement effective corrective actions
- Manage labour, equipment and resources to maximise efficiency
- Support quality compliance and ensure customer specifications are consistently achieved
- Oversee stock allocation and material requirements planning
- Lead daily production meetings and communicate priorities clearly
- Monitor and report against key production KPIs
- Promote a strong health, safety and quality culture
- Work alongside suppliers and internal stakeholders to support operational success
- Develop training plans, succession planning and employee development programmes
Continuous Improvement Focus
A key part of the role will be identifying ways to improve performance across the production function. You'll be encouraged to challenge existing processes and drive meaningful change through initiatives such as:
- Lean Manufacturing

- Waste Reduction
- Root Cause Analysis
You'll take ownership of performance across key metrics including:
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Labour Efficiency
- OTIF Performance
- Downtime
- Waste Reduction
- Scrap Levels
- Quality Performance
- Health & Safety Metrics
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with Production Managers who can demonstrate a track record of improving performance and influencing teams within a manufacturing environment.
You'll likely have:
- Previous experience as a Production Manager within a manufacturing environment (desirable)
- Strong knowledge and skillset within a manufacturing and production environment
- A hands-on management style and visible leadership approach
- Experience managing Team Leaders and production personnel
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Experience driving productivity and process improvements
- Knowledge of production KPIs and performance management
- Experience monitoring manufacturing equipment and production performance
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels
- A proactive attitude and a genuine desire to improve the way things are done
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and deliver results against deadlines
- Evidence of successfully implementing positive change within previous roles
- A full UK driving licence
