Production Operator

Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire
Salary: £26,436 per annum (£12.71 per hour)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Packaging Operators to join a rapidly growing pharmaceutical manufacturer in St Albans. Following significant investment in new production and packaging lines, the business is expanding its team to support increased production.

You’ll be working in a modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, operating automated and semi-automated equipment to manufacture and package pharmaceutical products supplied to major retailers across the UK.

As a Packaging Operator, you will be responsible for keeping production lines running efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.

Your duties will include:

• Operating automated and semi-automated production and packaging machinery.

• Setting up equipment and completing line changeovers and clean-downs.

• Loading materials and components to maintain continuous production.

• Carrying out routine in-process quality checks.

• Completing batch records, production paperwork and other documentation accurately.

• Identifying and resolving basic mechanical issues where possible.

• Escalating technical problems to the appropriate team when required.

• Monitoring production performance and helping minimise downtime and waste.

• Moving materials and pallets safely using the appropriate equipment.

• Maintaining excellent housekeeping and cleanliness across the production area.

• Working in accordance with Health & Safety, GMP and company SOPs.

Essential:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or packaging environment.

• Experience operating automated or semi-automated machinery.

• A reliable, hands-on approach with a strong focus on quality and safety.

• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately.

Desirable:

• Experience within pharmaceutical, FMCG, food, medical device or another regulated manufacturing environment.

• Knowledge or previous experience of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).
