The Company
Our client are a market leading manufacturer who operate on a global basis. Due to continued expansion they have an excellent opportunity to join their business as a Production Planner.
The Role
The Senior Production Planner is responsible for leading the development, execution, and optimisation of short, medium, and long-term production plans to meet customer demand and business objectives. This role plays a critical part in the S&OP process, ensuring alignment between demand, production capacity, inventory strategy, and commercial priorities
Main duties include:
Production Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage short-, medium-, and long-term production schedules aligned to customer requirements and company targets.
- Lead daily and weekly planning cadence including production schedule reviews and progress tracking.
- Ensure effective plan execution and update schedules in response to changes.
- Oversee completion and closure of production jobs to maintain system accuracy.
S&OP Responsibilities
- Act as a key contributor to the monthly S&OP cycle including demand vs capacity balancing.
- Translate the agreed S&OP plan into a feasible production plan.
- Collaborate with Commercial teams to validate forecasts and demand.
- Identify and escalate risks including capacity constraints and supply issues.
- Provide data-driven insights to support S&OP decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the interface between production, commercial, and supply chain teams.
- Coordinate workflow and prioritisation with commercial teams.Work with production to identify risks and improve schedules.
Systems & Process Development
- Support ERP improvement projects and integrations.
- Improve master data, planning parameters, and system logic.
- Drive standardised, system-led planning processes.
Performance & Reporting
- Develop and present KPIs including schedule adherence and OTIF.
- Analyse planning performance and identify improvements.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Act as a subject matter expert for planning processes.
- Promote Lean principles and continuous improvement.
What We Are Looking For
The Production Planner will ideally have experience within a fast paced manufacturing environment. You should have the following skills/experience:
- Proven experience in production or supply chain planning.
- Strong understanding of S&OP processes.
- Advanced ERP knowledge (Epicor, SAP, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Proficient in Excel and data analysis.
- Lean / Continuous Improvement exposure.
