Jackson Hogg are supporting a well-established precision engineering business in the North East with the appointment of a Production Supervisor.
This is a key hire for the site, aimed at strengthening technical leadership across production and improving how work flows from engineering into the shop floor.

About the business

The company operates as a subcontract engineering provider, delivering a range of precision manufacturing and specialist engineering services to customers across demanding industrial sectors. Their work covers machining, assembly, testing and finishing processes, supporting both repeat and bespoke projects. The environment is varied and hands-on, with a strong focus on quality, problem solving and delivering to customer requirements.

Why this role exists

The business has solid capability but needs someone who can sit between engineering and production, ensuring jobs are set up right, issues are solved quickly, and teams are supported technically on the shop floor.
This role is ideal for someone who prefers being visible in production rather than office-based, and wants to influence how work is delivered day to day.

The role

Working closely with engineering, quality and operations teams, you will:

  • Provide technical supervision across production departments
  • Review and release manufacturing documentation into production
  • Support contract reviews, advising on methods, tooling and risk
  • Ensure jobs are run in line with approved processes and QHSE standards
  • Troubleshoot production issues and deliver practical solutions
  • Support tooling selection and drive process improvements
  • Carry out inspections and support NCR / root cause investigations
  • Be a key point of support for operators and engineers on the shop floor

You’ll need:

  • Strong background in CNC machining or mechanical engineering
  • Experience with tooling, work holding and production processes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience supporting or guiding shop floor teams
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
  • A practical, problem-solving approach

Desirable:

  • Experience with inspection, metrology, testing or similar
  • Background in a subcontract or heavy engineering

What’s on offer

  • Early finish every Friday, strong work/life balance vs shift environments
  • A hands-on role with real influence on production
  • Progression into senior engineering or operations roles
