Project Lead / Project Director – Data Centre (Client Side)

Location: Norway Data Centre Project

Sector: Data Centre Construction / Mission Critical

Rate/Salary: Competitive – DOE

Right to Work: Right to work in Norway preferred; all visa/sponsorship statuses considered for the right candidate

The Role

Our Client is a provider of project delivery and construction management services to the data centre sector. Working alongside hyperscale, AI, neocloud & colo developers to deliver mission-critical facilities on time, safely, and to the highest technical standard.

Our clients' people typically epitomise strong technical expertise combined with composure under pressure, sound judgement, and an unwavering commitment to programme and quality.

We're looking for candidates who understand the pace and precision the data centre environment demands, and who want to work on projects of genuine scale and complexity.

This is a client-side role, sitting within the Owner's project team and overseeing the main contractor and M&E subcontractors on the client's behalf — from mobilisation through to energisation and handover.

You'll be the client's eyes and ears on the ground for the M&E scope: holding the delivery chain to account on design intent, programme, and quality, and ensuring the facility is handed over exactly as specified.

Key Responsibilities

● Hold overall client-side accountability for project delivery, acting as the senior point of contact between the client, main contractor, and delivery partners

● Lead the client's project team, including construction, commercial, planning, engineering, and commissioning leads

● Set and drive the client's project strategy, ensuring the delivery team is aligned across all packages and disciplines

● Own oversight of the master programme and project budget, holding the delivery team to agreed milestones and financial targets

● Manage key stakeholder relationships across the client organisation, investors, and delivery partners, ensuring clear, proactive communication at all stages

● Oversee independent risk management across the project, ensuring timely identification and mitigation of programme, cost, and technical risks

● Chair senior project review meetings, reporting directly to executive stakeholders

● Ensure a strong safety culture is embedded across the project and enforced through the delivery chain

● Lead the client-side transition through commissioning, energisation, and handover, ensuring a smooth transition to operations

● Own final account review, close-out, and lessons-learned processes through to project completion

Requirements

● Extensive experience as a Project Lead, Project Director, or Senior Project Manager — client-side experience on data centre or mission-critical projects strongly preferred

● Strong track record leading and holding accountable multi-disciplinary delivery teams on large-scale, complex construction programmes

● Excellent commercial and programme acumen, with experience owning project budgets and schedules from an Owner's perspective

● Familiarity with Norwegian and/or EU construction standards and delivery methods (or strong equivalent international experience)

● Outstanding leadership, negotiation, and senior stakeholder communication skills

● Relevant qualification (Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent); further professional qualifications (e.g. MRICS, PMP, MCIOB) advantageous

● Willingness to be based on site in Norway for the duration of the project

● English language proficiency essential; Norwegian language skills advantageous but not essential

What's on Offer

● Opportunity to lead client-side delivery of a major hyperscale data centre programme

● Competitive day rate/salary, DOE

● Long-term project with potential for extension

  • ● All visa statuses considered for the right candidate — support and guidance provided where possible
