About the Opportunity
We are working with an established and highly specialised aviation engineering organisation that delivers aircraft modification and aftermarket design solutions across the UK and internationally.
The Role
As Project Engineer, you will act as a key engineering interface between the organisation and its customers, ensuring projects are delivered effectively from initial concept through to completion.
You will work within a multidisciplinary and matrix environment, coordinating engineering activities across areas including structures, mechanical systems, avionics, electrical systems and aircraft interiors.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary engineering interface between the business and its clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring clear communication of technical requirements, progress and project issues.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated and certifiable aircraft modification solutions.
- Support the development of initial design concepts in accordance with aircraft manufacturer requirements, engineering standards and best practice.
- Provide engineering liaison support at manufacturing and installation sites, helping to resolve issues relating to **fit, form, function and manufacturing constraints**.
- Coordinate technical inputs across structural, mechanical, electrical, avionics and interior engineering disciplines.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules and progress reports.
- Support project managers with project reporting, technical presentations, customer updates and project documentation.
- Assist with resource planning, project budgets and programme management within a matrix organisation.
- Coordinate technical activities and deliverables from external suppliers, engineering partners and service providers.
- Identify technical, programme and delivery risks and support the implementation of appropriate mitigation plans.
- Ensure engineering outputs are appropriately documented and support applicable certification and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with manufacturing and installation teams to ensure designs can be effectively implemented on the aircraft.

* Experience specifically relating to aircraft interior modifications.
* Experience coordinating engineering projects, aircraft modifications or similar technical programmes.
* Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and engineering documentation.
* Experience working across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
* Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and technical inputs simultaneously.
* Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.
* Comfortable working independently within a matrix management environment.

Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
* Experience within an EASA/UK CAA Part 21 Design Organisation.
* Previous involvement in aircraft certification or major repair programmes.
* Rotorcraft modification experience.
* Exposure to aircraft electrical systems or electrical design principles.
* Experience providing engineering liaison support within a manufacturing or installation environment.
* Knowledge of aerospace quality, configuration management and engineering change processes.
* Experience managing external engineering suppliers or vendors.
* Experience using SolidWorks or other CAD systems.
* Advanced CAD/engineering design capability.
* Formal project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, APM or PMP.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
* Join a specialist aviation engineering environment working on complex aircraft modification programmes.
* Work across a broad range of engineering disciplines rather than being restricted to a single technical area.
* Gain exposure to aircraft interiors, structures, systems, manufacturing and certification.
* Work directly with customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects within a highly regulated aerospace environment.
* 12-month contract providing immediate exposure to a specialist aviation engineering business.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Project Engineer, Aircraft Project Engineer, Aircraft Modification Engineer, Aircraft Interiors Engineer or Aerospace Engineer with experience coordinating technical projects within aviation.
Experience within Part 21, STC or aircraft certification would be a significant advantage, but candidates with strong aircraft modification and interiors experience from other aviation environments are encouraged to apply.
If you're an experienced aviation engineer looking for a technically varied project role within a specialist aircraft modification environment, we'd be keen to hear from you.
