The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to take a lead role on a significant construction and civil engineering scheme in West Wales.

This is a site-based position requiring a strong delivery-focused Project Manager with a background working for civil engineering contractors or main contractors delivering substantial civils packages.

The successful candidate will oversee the coordination and delivery of complex site activities, with particular emphasis on earthworks, reinforced concrete and heavy civil engineering works.

The position will initially be offered on a temporary basis with a clear opportunity to move into a permanent role following a successful initial period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works on site.
  • Manage earthworks, reinforced concrete and associated structural/civil packages.
  • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and specialist contractors.
  • Manage construction programmes, sequencing and short-term planning.
  • Monitor progress and ensure key project milestones are achieved.
  • Work closely with engineering, design and commercial teams.
  • Identify and manage programme, technical and operational risks.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Chair site and subcontractor meetings and provide clear progress updates.
  • Manage resources effectively throughout the construction programme.
  • Provide leadership to the wider site team and maintain a strong delivery culture.

Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Previous experience working as a Project Manager within civil engineering or construction.
A strong background with a civil engineering contractor or main contractor.
Significant experience managing heavy civils and earthworks.
Practical knowledge of reinforced concrete construction.
Experience delivering technically challenging construction projects.
Strong subcontractor and site-team management experience.
Good understanding of construction programming and sequencing.
Strong health and safety awareness.
Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
Relevant construction qualifications and site management certifications.

The Opportunity
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to take responsibility for a substantial project in West Wales, with the potential to develop into a long-term permanent position.
