The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a major infrastructure project in the Peterhead area.
The client is flexible and will consider candidates looking for either a permanent position or a long-term contract opportunity.
This is a substantial heavy civil engineering package forming part of a major energy infrastructure programme, with significant construction activity and a strong pipeline of work in the region.
The role will suit someone with a strong background in earthworks, heavy civils and major infrastructure who can take responsibility for the delivery of significant construction packages.
The Works
The project involves a range of heavy civil engineering activities, including:
- Major earthworks
- Bulk excavation and cut & fill
- Groundworks
- Site preparation and enabling works
- Access roads and haul roads
- Drainage
- Site compounds and associated infrastructure
- Utilities and service installations
- Reinforced concrete and structural civils
Key Responsibilities
As Site Agent / Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, efficient and successful delivery of your section of works.
Duties will include:
- Managing major earthworks and heavy civils packages
- Coordinating site engineers, supervisors, foremen and subcontractors
- Planning labour, plant, materials and site resources
- Managing bulk excavation, cut & fill and groundworks operations
- Overseeing access roads, drainage and associated infrastructure
- Producing and reviewing RAMS and construction documentation
- Monitoring progress against the construction programme
- Identifying and resolving potential programme or delivery issues
- Managing subcontractor performance
- Ensuring works are delivered to drawings and specifications
- Maintaining high health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Managing quality assurance and project documentation
- Attending progress and coordination meetings
- Liaising with clients, designers and other project stakeholders
- Supporting commercial teams with variations and change
- Driving packages through to completion and handover
Experience Required
We are looking for candidates with proven experience delivering heavy civil engineering and earthworks projects.
Relevant experience could include:
- Major earthworks
- Bulk excavation
- Groundworks
- Roads and infrastructure
- Drainage
- Energy and power infrastructure
- Substations
- Utilities
- Wind farm infrastructure
- Highways
- Major enabling works
- Reinforced concrete works
Candidates should have previous experience operating at Site Agent, Senior Site Agent, Construction Manager or Project Manager level for a civil engineering contractor.
Qualifications
A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is required.
Candidates should also ideally hold:
- SMSTS
- CSCS
- First Aid
- Temporary Works experience/qualification
- Strong technical understanding of civil engineering construction
- Good knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
The Candidate
You will need to be technically strong, commercially aware and capable of taking ownership of a substantial construction package.
You should be comfortable managing engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, plant and site operations while maintaining programme, quality and safety standards.
Previous experience delivering large-scale earthworks or heavy civils packages for a recognised civil engineering contractor would be particularly advantageous.
