The Opportunity
Our Client; a well-recognised and respected Materials Handling company who are among the world's largest suppliers of Automated Warehouse and Materials Handling solutions are now actively seeking an experienced Project Manager who has experience working in Materials Handling and/or Automation environments on initially a 12-month contract basis, with likelihood of extension at the end of this term.

Reporting to their Program Manager and based onsite at the customer 4 – 5 days a week, you will undertake full Project Management of orders.

On offer to the successful applicant is a pay rate of circa £500 per day, inside IR35.

Detailed duties and responsibilities will be:
Contract Handling:
  • To undertake Project Management of orders.
  • To manage contracts through to end of warranty period ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget and that they meet customers’ specification and quality expectations.
  • Maintain control over the cost development of the contract, presenting accurate costing information (and predictions) using cost-monitor tools.
  • To deal with the customer on all contractual matters.
  • To maintain and implement an up-to-date project time schedule.
  • To specify and trigger procurement of equipment, products and services together with appropriate departments.
  • To create appropriate handover documentation.
  • To obtain signed handover of contracts.
  • To issue monthly reports to inform the Company of progress against budget and programme, listing any cost variations, identifying significant problem areas and with update of payment schedule. This report has to follow the CS agreed standard format
Project Manager – Site Management Duties
  • Make sure that site and site huts are kept safe and tidy and that the site reflects the company image as a top quality, professional company.
  • Management of all personnel on site including sub-contractors.
  • Overall co-ordination of delivery of all materials to site.
  • Acceptance of quality of all sub-contract work.
  • Ensure that all method statements are reviewed and logged. Issue health and safety policy, issue hazard and risk analysis, compliance with CDM and any other regulations with any necessary Head Office Support.
  • Ensure full compliance with quality assurance procedures and in particular OP1002, which defines responsibilities on site.
  • Ensure that a suitable site diary and photographs are kept to provide any necessary evidence for subsequent claim management.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Should ideally be educated with a minimum HNC level qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, better still have a Degree, but this isn’t essential.
  • Should be an experienced Project Manager, who is prepared, and used to working with the customer onsite, together with having previously worked in Material Handling and/or Automation environments.
  • Should have a proven track record or project delivery, the ability to communicate at all levels within the business, together with having a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • You will have the ability to manage your own time and encourage others to achieve deadlines.
  • You will need strong Microsoft Office skills, and ideally be an Advanced user of MS Project.
  • Should be conversant with Autocad.
It’s great if you also have the following:
  • A basic understanding of SAP would be useful.
