Supporting Wotton‑under‑Edge’s projects and helping deliver improvements that matter to the community.

Wotton‑under‑Edge Town Council is strengthening its capacity as it prepares for future responsibilities and rising expectations. As part of this, we are investing in project delivery and looking for a Project Officer who can help coordinate and support a wide range of community, public realm and facilities projects linked to the Town Plan and the Council’s work programme.

About the role

This is a practical, delivery‑focused role at the heart of the Council’s improvement work. You will coordinate day‑to‑day activity across multiple projects, helping keep work on schedule, resolving practical issues and ensuring clear communication with councillors, colleagues, contractors and community groups. You will support public realm improvements, small capital works, community initiatives, events and facilities‑related projects, maintaining project documentation, tracking budgets and preparing clear updates for committees and working groups.

You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Estates Team and partners to ensure projects run smoothly, risks are identified early and opportunities are acted upon. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organising activity, working with people and seeing tangible results from their work.

About you

You will bring:

  • Confidence managing projects and keeping activity organised and on track
  • Clear, calm communication and the ability to work well with councillors, colleagues, contractors and community groups
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A practical, problem‑solving mindset and a steady approach when plans need adjusting
  • Good digital skills and confidence using MS Office and simple project tools
  • Experience working in a public‑facing, community or partnership‑based environment

Experience in local government or supporting public realm or facilities projects is helpful, but what matters most is your ability to organise activity, work constructively with others and keep projects moving.

If you enjoy practical coordination, working with people and helping deliver improvements that make a visible difference to the town, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to Wotton‑under‑Edge’s next phase of development.
