We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Planner to join a growing engineering and project delivery team.

This is a varied role covering both live projects and tender/bid work, where you’ll be responsible for developing and managing project programmes, monitoring progress, identifying risks and supporting the wider project team with planning and forecasting.

The Role

As Project Planner, you will:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes from engineering and design through to procurement, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Commercial teams and subcontractors to track progress.

  • Monitor programme performance, identify delays and risks, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Manage project milestones, dependencies, critical paths and look-ahead programmes.

  • Support resource planning and workload forecasting.

  • Develop realistic programmes for bids and tenders, including Gantt charts and key milestones.

  • Provide planning information to support project costing and delivery strategies.

  • Carry out what-if and scenario analysis to assess the impact of delays, design changes and resource constraints.

  • Produce regular programme updates, reports and planning dashboards.

  • Maintain accurate programme records, baselines and revisions.

  • Work with suppliers and subcontractors to incorporate their programmes into the overall project plan.

About You

We’re looking for someone with previous experience working as a Project Planner, Planner, Bid Planner, Project Controller or similar, ideally within an engineering or technical environment.

You should have:

  • Strong experience using MS Project, Primavera P6 or similar planning software.

  • Good understanding of engineering and project delivery processes.

  • Experience with critical path analysis, programme logic and resource planning.

  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

  • The ability to understand technical documentation and project deliverables.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • A relevant HNC, HND or Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business or a related discipline is desirable.

Desirable Experience

Experience within any of the following environments would be advantageous:

  • Engineering

  • Manufacturing

  • Automation

  • Defence

  • Infrastructure

  • Engineered-to-order projects

  • Project manufacturing

Experience with EVM, bid/tender planning or qualifications such as APM, PMI or PRINCE2 would also be beneficial.
