SENIOR TOWN PLANNER

Location: Studley

Salary: £45,000/£55,000

Are you an experienced Town Planner or Senior Planner looking for your next opportunity within the residential development sector?

A highly regarded and well-established residential developer is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Town Planner to join their Technical Team in Studley, Warwickshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on genuine responsibility across an established portfolio of residential sites, working closely with land, technical, commercial and development teams to secure planning consents and maximise development potential.

The Role

As Senior Town Planner, you will be responsible for managing planning matters from initial site appraisal through to securing planning permission and supporting the delivery of development opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing planning applications and strategies across a portfolio of residential development sites

  • Developing and implementing planning strategies to maximise the value and potential of sites

  • Supporting the identification, appraisal and acquisition of new development opportunities

  • Managing external planning consultants and professional advisors

  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, statutory consultees and other key stakeholders

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and overseeing them through to determination

  • Providing planning input into land appraisals and acquisition decisions

  • Advising internal teams on planning risks, opportunities and potential solutions

  • Supporting the resolution of planning conditions, Section 106 obligations and other matters required to bring sites forward

  • Monitoring changes to planning policy and legislation

About You

We are looking for an experienced planning professional with a strong understanding of the UK planning system, ideally with experience within housebuilding, residential development, planning consultancy or local government.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience managing planning applications from inception through to determination

  • Strong knowledge of residential planning and development

  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how planning decisions impact land value and development viability

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

  • A proactive, commercially minded and solutions-focused approach

  • A relevant planning degree or equivalent qualification

  • MRTPI status would be advantageous but is not essential
