Analytical Analyst – Quality Control

Job Purpose

As an Analytical Analyst, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of chemical and physical testing on raw materials, semi-finished products, finished veterinary medicinal products and packaging materials.

The role will also involve stability testing, equipment calibration and supporting validation activities. All Quality Control (QC) activities must be carried out in accordance with established procedures, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Health & Safety requirements and the company’s Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical and physical testing and evaluate results to ensure raw materials, packaging materials, semi-finished products and finished products meet established specifications and GMP requirements.
  • Ensure products meet relevant specifications and customer requirements.
  • Collect, receive and archive samples including raw materials, packaging, labels, semi-finished products, finished products and water samples.
  • Carry out swab sampling for environmental monitoring and cleaning validation.
  • Organise and prioritise laboratory workload to ensure testing is completed within agreed lead times and production requirements.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Perform testing of raw materials, semi-finished products and packaging materials prior to use in production.
  • Release raw materials, semi-finished products and packaging materials for use in production where appropriate.
  • Perform testing of finished products to support product release to market.
  • Carry out analytical testing for process, product, cleaning and equipment validation studies.
  • Conduct analytical testing as part of stability studies.
  • Support analytical method transfers to and from other laboratories.

  • Analytical testing carried out in accordance with GMP, Health & Safety and internal procedures.
  • Analytical testing completed accurately and right first time.
  • Testing completed within agreed turnaround times.
  • Accurate and timely recording and reporting of analytical results.
  • Maintaining high standards of laboratory quality, cleanliness and compliance.

Person Specification

Skills & Experience – Essential

  • Strong experience in chemical and physical analytical testing.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of a range of laboratory analytical techniques

Qualifications – Essential

  • BSc (Hons) in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification within a relevant scientific discipline.

Desirable

  • Experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing or veterinary pharmaceutical environments.
  • Experience supporting validation and stability studies.

  • The role may involve occasional international travel.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, quality and confidentiality.
