SW Locums is currently recruiting a Qualified Social Worker to join the London Borough of Hackney on a full-time locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to work within a supportive service, completing meaningful assessments and helping children and families achieve better outcomes.

The Role

• Location: London Borough of Hackney

• Start Date: ASAP

• Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, full-time locum

• Hybrid Working: Available and can be discussed during the interview process

• Pay Rate: £37.00 – £39.04 per hour (Umbrella), depending on experience

About the Position

You will be responsible for completing high-quality assessments of children and families, ensuring their needs are accurately understood and that effective support plans are developed. This role requires a confident social worker who can analyse complex information, assess risk and work collaboratively with families and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed assessments in line with statutory guidance and best practice.

• Conduct interviews, observations and information gathering with children, families and partner agencies.

• Analyse and evaluate information to develop a clear understanding of a child’s needs.

• Consider child development, parenting capacity and family/environmental factors when assessing needs.

• Identify, assess and balance risks and protective factors within a child protection framework.

• Work alongside professionals and agencies to ensure children receive appropriate support and intervention.

• Maintain accurate records and deliver high-quality social work practice.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.

• Strong Children’s Social Care experience.

• Excellent assessment, analytical and safeguarding skills.

• Ability to manage complex situations and make confident professional decisions.

• Experience working with children, families and multi-agency networks.
