QA Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000

Location: Ampthill, Bedfordshire
Contract: 12-Month FTC
Pattern: 37.5 Hrs | 4-Day Working Week (Mon–Thu)
Security Clearance: BPSS required to start

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has become available for a QA Engineer to join a leading defence and aerospace organisation based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Working within the Missiles & Fire Control business, you'll play a key role in ensuring product quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle by supporting New Product Introduction, managing non-conformance activities, and driving robust quality assurance processes within an AS9100-regulated environment.

This role is ideal for a Quality professional with experience in aerospace, defence, or another highly regulated manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate Control Plans from engineering drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Manage the non-conformance process, from containment and quarantine through to effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
  • Participate in design reviews and engineering drawing reviews.
  • Support quality assurance activities across manufacturing and production.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure product compliance.
  • Drive effective problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Quality Assurance principles
  • Non-conformance management
  • Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
  • Experience working within an AS9100-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering drawings
  • Technical specifications
  • Manufacturing documentation
  • Experience producing and maintaining Control Plans.
  • Strong knowledge of quality problem-solving methodologies.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within the Aerospace or Defence manufacturing sectors.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).
